What did you fail at today?

I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.- Michael Jordan

TShirt & LegsSeptember is here and 2013 is almost over. I’ve had lots of successes this year, but I had to ask myself last months newsletter question, “Have I been playing small?”

I recently read a Forbes article about Billionaire Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx. She said that her father each day would ask her, “So what did you fail at today?” And if there were no failures, her father would be disappointed. Further, she said that focusing on failing big allowed her to understand that failure is not an outcome, but involves a lack of trying- not stretching yourself far enough out of your comfort zone and attempting to be more than you were the day before. Failing big was a good thing.

I realized I need to step out my comfort zone this last quarter of the year. And I did in a big way! I am now bicoastal! Well, South coastal. I have places in Atlanta and Los Angeles and I have been traveling back and forth! I am racking up mileage I must say. So, don’t fret if you need me in LA, I am there, and if you need me in the dirty South, I am also there. I stepped out on faith, I am being bold, and I’m willing to fail in order to succeed.

The article – 10 Lessons Billionaire Sara Blakely gives.

What have you failed at today? What do you really want out of life? When was the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone to get it?  Remember failing big is a good thing.

In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.

Have a fabulous September.
